Wonderful Day

Sunny and bright so headed to the coast for a walk along the beach. Only a few days left before dogs are banned from the beach so was wonderful to get out.
Dog, Daughter and Husband shared the day.

Walked all the way to the pier, stopped for chips and mugs of tea before heading back to the car. Big sky, big breaths; how is it that simple things can make one feel so good?

Mud, shoots and boots.

Well the snow has gone, but it's still cold and the rain has created paths of churned mud.

But hidden in the leaves can be seen the shoots of the bluebells. Spring is quietly on its way.

An essential for walking in these weather conditions; my Sorel boots. Back in November they seemed the height of extravagance but I have been able to walk in snow, rain and mud while feeling warm, and even on ice with no loss of grip. Marvellous!

Our House Is On The Market!

Well, we're on track. We wanted to get the house on the market before the end of January and we have.

View details here

It all seems a bit real now - we've even got out first viewing on Thursday.

So the constant tidying, and rise and fall of expectations starts now....

We moved into this house nearly 12 years ago and though it's never been my forever-home I will miss it.

So many chats, laughs and family times spent here.

Our last Christmas in this house.

Frosty Morning

So wonderful to walk on crisp ground after all that rain. The sky has put on a marvellous show; pink streaked with contrails early this morning, now blue and gold.

Still muddy in the woods under the cover of the trees, but out here in the fields it cold and hard and brilliant - lovely. Our Norwegian Bohund loves this weather and runs off in pursuit of deer.

January brings the snow

The Whole Poem - happy days

January brings the snow,
Makes our feet and fingers glow.

February brings the rain,
Thaws the frozen lake again.

March brings breezes sharp and shrill,
Shakes the dancing daffodil.

April brings the primrose sweet,
Scatters daisies at our feet.

May brings flocks of pretty lambs,
Skipping by their fleecy dams.

June brings tulips, lillies, roses,
Fills the children’s hands with posies.

Hot July brings cooling showers,
Apricots and gillyflowers.

August brings the sheaves of corn,
Then the harvest home is borne.

Warm September brings the fruit,
Sportsmen then begin to shoot.

Brown October brings the pheasant,
Then to gather nuts is pleasant.

Dull November brings the blast,
Then the leaves go whirling past.

Chill December brings the sleet,
Blazing fire and Christmas treat.

October Brings The Blast

 From a childhood poem,

Dull November brings the blast,
Then the leaves go whirling past.

Its only October but the fierce North Easterly winds have caused a lot of the leaves to fall.

In our local woods the beech leaves have now created beautiful paths.

Stumps and leaves;  again evoke thoughts of childhood stories of faery folk living in the wood.

Tova dog ignored the path and headed off into the brambles after rabbits.

So many inviting paths lead off the main drag...

While on the green on the way home, the tree looks as if a giant has given it a good shake, giving a carpet of leaves below.
